Problem:
People increasingly use their phones to find local businesses, so most local companies get most of their website traffic from mobile devices. When our client came to us, their website wasn’t ranking well for local search terms and was slow to load on mobile devices. This hindered their ability to rank in the Google Map Pack and appear in search results for key terms related to their main service, such as “laser hair removal near me” or “laser hair removal + [city name].” As a result, they were only ranking for five terms and receiving minimal business from search engines.
The website also had a high loading time, making it difficult for users to click through directly. Google prioritizes websites that load quickly and provide a good user experience, especially on mobile devices. With over 80% of their visitors using mobile devices, we needed to speed up their site and optimize images. All of the website’s pages had low PageSpeed Insights (PSI) scores, indicating they didn’t meet Google’s Core Web Vitals. To attract more natural traffic for their target keywords, it was crucial to improve the site’s speed immediately.
Solution:
Our web development team focused on optimizing the client’s web pages to ensure fast loading times and smooth performance across all devices. With particular attention to image optimization, load times improved significantly. After the website overhaul, it achieved scores of 90/100 on Google PageSpeed Insights for both desktop and mobile pages, meeting Core Web Vitals requirements. This enhancement resulted in an immediate boost in overall search visibility across all their web pages.
We also focused on building links to their most important pages as part of our strategy. We secured 27 backlinks from industry-specific websites, using anchor text that included their service, brand name, and city name. For local search, Google ranks sites based on relevance, proximity, and authority. Increasing the number of backlinks helps signal to Google that the site is well-known and endorsed by other businesses in the same field.
Results:
Our client saw an immediate boost in overall keyword performance after increasing their Domain Authority and acquiring more backlinks. New keywords like “hair removal [city name]” and “laser hair removal [city name]” began attracting over 500 searches per month. Additionally, they started ranking for long-tail variations of these keywords, enhancing their chances of reaching new local customers searching for hair removal services.
